中国只有少数传统的、国有的新闻机构在国外拥有常驻新闻处和记者。既使那些拥有国外自由记者或者偶尔派出驻外记者的新闻机构，在报道的内容上也很大程度的依赖外国媒体的报道，而且尽量避免敏感事件。
